Not to be confused with the MB43 Scale model of the WWII jeep this is a great little car; easy to build and drive. Easier than a go-kart and some of the pedal cars and due to the seat redesign in 2006 it will last a driver from around four to fourteen. In fact an adult can drive it too but not easily with a child alongside. The larger models cover this need well.

Chosen by lots of schools as a student project to rival the gokart it is quick and easy to construct and can be assembled in around 40 hours prior to painting.

Body Construction: The very tough body is of monocoque construction, cut from 12mm (½") thick panels in 'One good face' Birch plywood or MR (moisture resistant) MDF using our unique paper cutting patterns. No chassis required; the axles and other parts simply bolt directly onto the strong wooden body.

Motive Power:Power is provided by a powerful electric motor. It will run on a 12v battery at a speed of around 4 mph depending on the size of the load. Final drive is by chain to one rear wheel. Forward and reverse are selected via a switch on the dashboard.

Transmission Options:

  • Basic is Direct Drive, 12v straight to the motor.
  • Step start control ramps up to full speed in three to four seconds; for very young children.
  • Full speed control: soft starting, a real throttle response and therefore can run at any speed between a crawl and top speed. Ideal for reversing a trailer.
  • Fit an extra motor and battery, wired in series driving both rear wheels giving a diff effect.
  • This system can also accommodate a hard wired remote control: speed, F&R control from the passenger seat or walking behind.

Front Axle: Complimentary to the basic set up: a new development in the form of a Swing axle which improves rear wheel contact with the ground.

Increased Power: The speed control set up with 24 volts fed to two motors in series could maintain a top speed around speed 5 mph even with an adult on board, but give sufficient torque to tow a small car.

Assembly instructions / Fabricated Parts: The assembly instructions are easy to follow; each stage is clearly explained and illustrated with simple drawings and photos.

Wheels: The wheels are road quality pneumatic tyres on 3.50 x 8 inch dia. steel rims running on 1" (or 25mm) roller bearings. Total tyre diameter is approx. 15" (395mm). The drive wheel is supplied with an extended hub, additional bearing and fitted with a drive sprocket.

Battery: Safety fully sealed GEL battery @ 33 or 35Ah is ideal. An 85Ah caravan battery which must have an overflow pipe looped up or at a push a 12v car battery can be utilised.

Duration: Two to four hours continuous play value. This will vary according to load carried, terrain encountered and battery size measured in ampere-hours. My grandchildren play all day in the garden using one battery. We get three and a half hours when we give rides in the school playground.

Accessories: Trailer build manual, trailer kits, second motor.

Measurements:
Height (windscreen folded): 30" (762mm)
Length: 56" (1422mm)
Width: 27" (687mm).

Weight: Basic kit 35kg. Basic car, no battery: 52 kg. Deluxe, twin motor model, no battery: 65 kg. 35Ah safety battery 11.5kg; 85aH battery: 19 kg.
